Also, I think one of the improvements in the expansion is that the AI is a lot smarter in many situations. Still, we had *almost* finished a 2-player game (just cleaning up the map), compared to most games with the expansion that became unrecoverable before most of the counties had even been claimed yet. Finally started a new game with my original disc (which I finally got to install with a fan-made installer for Windows 7) and I've had no multiplayer problems except some lag during battles (smooth sailing compared to the siege pack bugs).ĮDIT: The game actually did get stuck in a siege battle (lost connection after the battle). I got half-way through a game with GOG's version and got stuck (despite all the tricks to avoid it I learned over the years). If GOG made an option to play without the expansion, we could play with no multiplayer issues. GOG says the original game is included, but it's only configured to let you play the expansion version (which doesn't add that much to the multiplayer game except only some extra battle and strategic maps). They are not present in the original Lords of the Realm II executable.
All of these problems were added when Sierra released the expansion pack ("Siege Pack").
